Bopworks sticks are essentially a recreation of a 50’s/60’s jazz stick using modern day technology. Research on tip length and shoulder tapers using 50’s/60’s model sticks has enabled us to produce a stick that has has a unique “old school” feel. This drastically changes the response of the stick. You can play “off” your ride more at fast tempos because there is simply less weight up front, and the unique tip guarantees a full sound. Of course, unlike older sticks, Bopworks are pitch paired and matched for weight.
Bopworks sticks came about from the realization that current jazz model sticks can sometimes be too heavy and “overdrive” a ride cymbal in quiet playing situations. Jazz drummers often have to deal with “live”
rooms that are acoustic nightmares: unmiked pianos & acoustic basses in restaurants or coffeehouses, hotel lobbies, dinner sets ...well, you get the idea.
